Laurence Bunting Brown (born 1959[1]) is an American Muslim ophthalmologist and author of both non-fiction and fictional works.
Early life
Brown acquired his BA at Cornell University and his MD from Brown University Medical School, and received residency training as an opthamologist at George Washington University Hospital.[2] He worked as an ophthalmologist in the US Air Force for eight years.[
 
Conversion to Islam
Although originally an atheist born to non-practicing Christian Quakers, he experienced a personal miracle when his daughter's lethal heart defect suddenly disappeared after he had prayed for God to intercede on her behalf.[3] He became a Muslim in April 1994 and is described by the Saudi Gazette as "a well-known convert to Islam."[4] Brown subsequently wrote two books, MisGod’ed and God’ed, which are critical of Judeo-Christian theology and supportive of Islam.[4] He is now also highly critical of atheism and is an advocate for theistic evolution.[5]
Brown states that as a result of his conversion he was disowned by his parents, lost his home and most of his property, and was divorced by his wife, but he has since re-married and now works as a medical director and eye surgeon in his new home of Medina, Saudi Arabia.[3][2]
 
Novels
 
After converting to Islam he began to write novels as a pastime. His first novel, The Eighth Scroll, is a thriller which was reviewed positively by Lisa Kaaki of Arab News, who compared it to The Da Vinci Code.[6] His second novel, The Returned, was released in 2011.[7]

Narrow Mind Reading from Quraan Koran

It is very dangerous to read the Koran with narrow mind. In Islam you have to use your brain. You do not be lazy and use the word by word interpretation of words commands. You have to use your mind and this is how one can boast about Islam. Reasoning should prevail. There are boundaries and red line where you can go. As an example one can not take away the obligation of prayers as an example. However, look at homosexuality as some Muslims claim they are born with it and can not over come it if this is the case they should not be condemned.
