Early life Brown acquired his BA at Cornell University and his MD from Brown University Medical School, and received residency training as an opthamologist at George Washington University Hospital . [2] He worked as an ophthalmologist in the US Air Force for eight years. [ Conversion to Islam Although originally an atheist born to non-practicing Christian Quakers , he experienced a personal miracle when his daughter's lethal heart defect suddenly disappeared after he had prayed for God to intercede on her behalf.
